The historical study of various communities show that management and leadership are the most important and effective factors in historical changes, progress and evaluation of human communities. In holy defense, different factors, such as a systematic movement caused the victory of Islamic combatants. The management and leadership of commanders had a significant role on the employment of human and material resources. The record and analysis of various experiences, resulted from it, can lead to the scientific, cultural and historical development of society. The purpose of this research is to express some of the guidance and leadership traits of holy defense commanders on the basis of the theory of leadership. The holy defense commanders on the basis of their own capabilities, such as curiosity and intelligence, adaptability, the ability to motivate their own and their subordinates, feeling to be responsible, self- confidence and faith in God‘s promises, utilized various styles of leaderships in accordance with different conditions and situations. Their subordinates possess divine motivations, sincerity, commitment, high obedience of super ordinate. These factors contribute to the commanders to achieve to their goals. Even though the difficult and complex situations of holy defense such as international sanctions, the unity of world powers with Iraq army against the Islamic Republic of Iran, the shortages of trained forces, equipments and facilities were considerable at the beginning of the war.
