Background and objective: To ensure the success of a military operation, careful planning is needed. Planning military operations is a complex process driven by the commander's decision-making, experience, and capabilities. One of the stages of this planning is locating the centers of ammunition preparation points. The location of ammunition readiness points is actually the analysis of spatial information and descriptive data in order to find one or more spatial positions with descriptive characteristics of ammunition and ammunition. This planning and analysis process can be done using GIS method. However, GIS is a powerful tool that seems essential in locating these points. The purpose of this article was to locate ammunition preparation points using GIS method.
Research method: The current research is of an applied-developmental type in terms of its purpose, which was carried out using a descriptive-analytical and survey method. The data and information of this research were collected using documentary and field methods as well as existing 1:25000 maps of the general area of Morchekhort and analyzed using ArcGIS software.
Findings: The data that had the greatest effect in determining the optimal location of ammunition preparation points were entered in the form of data layers in the GIS environment, and by overlapping the relevant layers, very suitable, suitable, relatively suitable, unsuitable and very unsuitable places for ammunition preparation points were determined.
Conclusion: In this article, GIS software was used to determine readiness points. Ammunition preparation points in military operations are not optimally distributed, which can have an effective role in the results of operations. In this context, the capability of the geographic information system in the field of locating ammunition preparation points was determined.
