The quality of terrains in Sahara and dessert areas has different impacts on remaining of tracks made by individuals, motorcycles and vehicles. The effects of human and vehicle tracks are not similar in various terrains.
It is due to the structure of land. The climate factors such as wind and precipitation affect the tracks.
Leaving a track can indicate the presence of troops in a terrain. Thus, tracking and counter – tracking skills play significant roles in armed forces and police.
In this study, attempts are made to explain the importance of tracking and counter – tracking, different types of tracking, and the effects of quality of land on remaining of the tracks, the effects of wind and precipitation on tracks and the methods of tracking.
