Governments inevitably determine contract lines to clarify the areas of activities. According To political geography, these surrounding lines are considered as borders of a country and they show the territory of political ruling of a government.
The borders have various roles and functions such as separation, unity and communication. The significant role of borders is to prevent desirable variables and to protect political, economical and cultural security.
According To political geography, some factors, like political agreements, mines and resources on both sides of frontiers have significant roles
Since the Islamic Republic of Iran has 15 neighbors and 837 km of sea and land borders, this paper is going to study the influencing factors on security of defensive, communicative and commercial functions.
