Environmental factors of the glob always affect the plans, leadership and direction of military operations. One of these factors is altitude that influences the military movements as well as acting personnel in the mountainous areas by altering the wind vector and the atmospheric pressure. The adaptation of military forces to high altitudes brings about the maximum physical output. Climbing high altitudes without previous readiness of operating personnel may be deadly.
Injuries resulting from the movements in mountainous areas are divided into the following two categories:
(I) Injuries related to high altitudes .These soundings include reduction of oxygen, lowering the mental and physical abilities, pulmonary and cerebral inflation, and some psychological effects such as the alteration of moral and personality.
(II) Environmental injuries include chilblain, sunburn, thunder and avalanche.
To prevent injuries related to high altitudes the personnel must be adapted to the situation. To do so, climbing operation should be performed in stages. Several pauses during climbing result in a better adaptation to the conditions of the high altitudes
