Issues concerning to tactics, the principles of fighting, and soldiering manners are subject matters that have always been taken into consideration in the works of thinkers and men of letters. One of these works is the Golestan of Saadi that is regarded as a treasury of the culture and literature of Islam and Iran. This masterpiece is a beautiful, charming, artistic, and literary prose containing useful instructive subjects in different domains notably in the realm of soldiering.
He has demonstrated some aspects of the exigency of soldiering through some anecdotes including admonitory lessons for this class of the society. This paper discusses the following topics profiting and adopting the Golestan:
-The imperativeness of the existence of a powerful army in the country.
-The special treatment of the rulers to the militants and to meet their requirements.
-The necessity of recognizing the enemies.
-Taking necessary measures to confront the opponents and encounter them properly.
-Ways and methods of defeating the enemies and whatever a
militant needs to know and learn.
