military terms from the very beginning of the establishment of military organizations to the present time in Iran. At first, the significance of terminology, word formation, and word coinage as well as their applications, notably in military sciences, will be presented. Afterwards, the emergence and development of such terms in different periods is demonstrated .The introduction of foreign terms, from different languages, into Persian will be showed as well. Then the author deals with the history of the establishment of military organizations which dates back to the Safavid period. Additionally, the historical development of such terms from that time to the creation of the Regular Army at the end of Qajar Dynasty is illustrated. The author also examines the official activities of word coinage from 1300 (A.H) to the victory of the Islamic Revolution. More importantly, the modifications of these terms after the Islamic Revolution and the recent activities in this regard are presented. Ultimately, the most common ways of word coinage and determining equivalences for foreign words are demonstrated and the paper ends with a conclusion.
