According to the Shahnameh; the military, especially the commanders, should never exceed the limits of human norms, chivalry and liberty in combat missions. They do not have to harm the innocent and ordinary people in campaign. Even against enemies, they should not give up the justice and to be fair, and avoid oppression. Commanders need to be careful not to upset their power. In the story of Forrud and Siavash, the commander of the Iranian Corps, Tous, on the way to campaign to Turan, contrary to the command of Kikhosrou, who is the commander in chief, passes through Kallat, and unjustly and innocently kills Forrud, the step -brother of Kikhsrou. His pride causes to disobey the general commander and ignore the advice of the elders of the army. The punishment for this insubordination leads to the death of his son and his son-in-law as well as suffering of all the troops. The punishment of unreasonable and selfish actions of Tous are: the plight of his troops in the midst of a storm, cold, snow and frost, a Turanian surprise attack against Tous army that led to a lot of Iranians’ casualties, the dethronement of Tous and his imprisonment, the heavy defeat of the corps, their unsuccessful return to Iran and, ultimately, the punishment in the next world that awaits them.
