Technically a neutron weapon is a very small hydrogen bomb with a specific design. The energy produced by the fusion reaction of the nuclei of Deuterium and Tritium atoms is proportionate to the fission reaction serving an initiator. In idealized conditions this weapon is designed so that the most blast effect is rapid neutron radiation including more than %80 of released energy from this nuclear weapon.
On the contrary, in nuclear blasts of fission reaction only %15 of the energy releases as rapid neutron and Gamma rays. The greatest amount of energy belongs to blast waves and thermal reactions. However, the blast and thermal waves of neutron weapons is very low. Producing neutron radiations, this weapon is capable to kill living things and humans without destroying buildings and physical environment. It is important to note that when this weapon is used even those troops settled in tanks, personnel carriers or defensive entrenchments are not safe from the lethal radiations of this weapon. Also, they are not able to defend against these radiations.
Details of the deigning of such weapons are kept as secret after several decades. However, it can be deduced from the overt information that there are different models of this weapon with different capabilities.
